Why not just get along?All human beings?

I'm a Wiccan so I know we are all connected to each other. Yet we make fun of each others religions, thoughts ,beliefs, non-beliefs. Why is it that we cant just say well you are you and I am me and we all deserve to be here no matter what we believe? I am sure to get dumped on for this display of sappy emotionalism but I went to the doctor a few days ago and got some news that puts life in perspective. My question is, Why cant we get along? (at the risk of sounding like Rodney King)
