How can we begin to rid the world of war and terrorism?

It is IMPOSSIBLE to rid the world of war. War has always been and always will be. There will always be someone who wants more power and there is too much profit involved with war for it ever to go away. It is true, humanity makes greater strides when peaceful, but even when striving for knowledge (such as the race to put a man on the moon, etc...) It is a competition between countries. Instead of working together, everyone wants to be the first. (the first in space, the first with nuclear power, etc)
